RAISING FUNDS FOR

Another 'Power'ful event for The Royal Families

The Royal Families raised another £10,000 with their Darts Night in March, taking their grand total to an impressive £80,000.

Reading players were paired with the darts heroes Phil 'The Power' Taylor and Bobby 'The Dazzler' George  for a five-round best-of-three contest but there were also one-on-one matches. Pre-tournament favourite John ‘The Hammer’ Oster was chosen by his team-mates to play Taylor and won the heat 2-0!

Stephen ‘The Contender’ Hunt also played well, putting in a man of the match performance with darts legend Taylor and winning an award at the end of the night.

The night culminated with the auctioning of signed memorabilia from Reading FC and Taylor and George and the chance to play for the Reading team in a pre-season friendly.

Tickets are still available for The Royal Families Golf Day at Sandford Springs Golf Club on Wednesday, April 9, with a team of four costing £450, including a Royals star.

Golf Day raises another £5000 for charity

Reading FC players and management raised a further £5000 for the Royal Families at the Charity Golf Day on 9th April.

The day was a great success with Ivar Ingimarsson on the winning team. John Oster's team came second while the Kyocera team with Steve Coppell came a respectable third.

More money was raised at an auction in the afternoon, where a limo ride and the chance to sit in the new Reading FC 2008/2009 team picture were up for grabs. This event takes the charity's total close to the £100,000 mark for the season.

Kyocera is delighted to be able to congratulate the Royal Families on raising an amazing £105,000 during the club's first season in the Premiership. The ladies had set a target of £60,000 for the first year, half of which was raised at the very first event, the champagne tasting in November. The Valentine's Day Ball raised £21,500, while the race night netted another £18,000. The fashion show at the beginning of April took the Royal Familes past £100,000 and a further £12,000 was raised at a golf day at Sandford Springs at the beginning of May.

The fundraising group was originally the brainchild of Karen Murty and Amanda Hahnemann following Reading's promotion to the Premiership in 2006.

Kyocera are proud to be Gold Sponsors for The Royal Families Charity. We would like to wish the Reading WAGs every success with their fundraising this season, and hope they can beat the impressive £105,000 raised in their first year.
